The need for additional funding for health services in the Benambra electorate has been ignored in today’s state budget, independent candidate Jacqui Hawkins said today. Jacqui, who came within 2000 votes of unseating sitting member Bill Tilley at the last State election said Albury Wodonga health services were being ignored, and was disappointed by the lack of cash allocated to regional and rural health services in the State Budget. ‘I am disappointed in this budgets response to health in Benambra. Independent candidate for Benambra, Jacqui Hawkins, has called on the State Government and Opposition to urgently commit funding for the continued operation of Albury-Wodonga Regional FoodShare.   Ms Hawkins said FoodShare had revealed it needs funding to continue its work of providing meals to more than 25,000 meals every week in 10 local Government areas around Albury-Wodonga. In a letter addressed to Ms Hawkins, Foodshare chair Greg Hardham said his organisation needed $150,000 a year to meet its basic operating costs.     Continue reading
